Will AI take my job?
Hopefully yes - the busy bits that stop you feeling creative.
It is here, and it is incredibly useful, every designer should start investigating how to bring it into their practice.
So, in my next instalment of Creativity vs Convenience I created a quick zine to get you started.
One thing I've been doing is fast iteration.
I use it to turn a 30 second pencil sketch into a render, try 4 or 5 different material combinations and colours and not have to hold my idea in my head for as long as I used to.
This gives me more time to do the real work.
Critique.
I can sit back and question the choices, try something else, go back to the first one. Ask myself what do I THINK?
We already became machines long before AI came along, churning out "options" or barely having time to cover the workload before we have to go into a room of people to show our work.
Now we can hand it off some of our load so we can actually be human again, sit with our work and ENJOY THE EDIT.
In this new reality, who is setting the tone? Who are the tastemakers?
The answer - Designers.
AI is ONLY AS GOOD AS THE CREATIVE DIRECTION YOU PUT IN.
Now, unlearn being busy, and start learning to be creative again.
😊
